The Banshies

A confluence of four strong personalities from the world of early music, The Banshies unite Yaoré, Roxana, Suzanne, and Louise in a trio sonata formation.

Their essence springs from the mystic depths of Irish Celtic mythology, where the Banshie – bean sí, a supernatural feminine spirit, foretells fate from another world. Through their instruments, they become conduits, inviting the listener to journey into a realm of sound and imagination. The Banshies are committed to providing the audience with an experience that goes beyond music.

Their choice to intersperse works for four with moments of solo, duo, or trio, sometimes deviating from the score, allows them to create a spatial arrangement that encourages the listener to renew their attention throughout the concert. They strive to explore all possibilities of public-musician dialogue by stepping off the stage: immersions in the audience, poetic interludes… The four musicians aim to break away from traditional forms, blending masterpieces from the classical repertoire with lesser-known works, transcriptions, traditional music, and even contemporary compositions.

They have been selected for the 2024 promotion of the Eeemerging+ program. They will perform at the Moments Musicaux de Gerberoy on June 22, 2024, at Pré-Saint-Gervais on June 30, at the Ambronay Festival on September 26, at the Marin Marais Festival on September 29, and will be in residence at the La Chaise-Dieu festival in 2025. They will record an EP in 2025 at State 51 in London.
