Inspired by the Sibyls, female prophetesses whose influence spanned from pagan antiquity to the medieval era and the Renaissance, the ensemble envisions an immersive approach to early music, revealing medieval sacred and secular repertoire as a powerful medium for collective transcendence.
Founded in 2021, Sibil•la Ensemble is a fusion of international musicians with diverse backgrounds and origins, based in the Netherlands. The ensemble focuses on repertoire from the 11th to the 15th century, combining voices with historical instruments such as medieval vielle, gothic harp, recorders, medieval lute, hurdy-gurdy, and percussion.
Sibil•la Ensemble has performed at the Utrecht Early Music Festival (NL), Muze van Zuid (NL), the New European Bauhaus Festival (BE), and Festival Faneromeni24 (CY), alongside private concerts and special events. In March 2024, the ensemble released Viriditas, the first immersive audiovisual album of medieval music internationally, in collaboration with the audiophile label TRPTK.
