Combining scholarly rigor with expressive sensitivity, the ensemble places at the heart of its work the rediscovery of lesser-known vocal and instrumental works alongside celebrated masterpieces.
Directed by harpsichordist Michele Barbieri, Segreti Armonici promotes research, transcription, and outreach projects, regularly collaborating with guest singers and instrumentalists.
In June 2025, the ensemble was selected for the S-EEEMERGING 2026 programme after the final round held in Cologne. Its repertoire includes music by Luigi Rossi, Girolamo Frescobaldi, Guglielmo Lipparini, Claudio Monteverdi, Giulio Caccini, Carlo Milanuzzi, Lucrezia Vizzana, and Maurizio Cazzati, with a special interest in unpublished manuscripts preserved in Italian libraries.
The ensemble features internationally trained musicians: Naoko Tanigaki (soprano), Ilaria Scarponi (mezzo-soprano), Niccolò Roda (bass), Basak Canseli Cifci (cello & viola da gamba), and Michele Barbieri (direction, organ & harpsichord).
