Rýnský

Rýnský was formed in 2021 on the banks of the Rhine river by three musicians studying at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.

The violinist Vojtěch Jakl, theorbo player Elias Conrad and harpsichordist Filip Hrubý discovered a mutual love for the musical language of Stylus Fantasticus, the free and florid instrumental style of the 17th century found in compositions by Italian, German and Central European authors. The ensemble approaches the repertoire with its own energetic flair, seeking to bring out the music’s uniquely expressive nature while staying faithful to historical sources regarding its interpretation.

Each member of Rýnský is an experienced ensemble player and brings an irreplaceable skill set to the group gained from individually cooperating with orchestras such as Collegium 1704, Gli Incogniti, Les Cornets Noirs, Pygmalion, or Collegium Marianum. Owing to these years of performing, gaining knowledge, and exploring different communication methods, the musicians are competent to share their original ideas within the ensemble and with their audiences.

After receiving the Audience Award at the Neuburg-based Biagio Marini Competition in August 2021, Rýnský went on to win a place in the DV YOUNG SOUNDS 2022 program, allowing them to start preparing their debut CD: a complete set of the violin sonatas of Ignazio Albertini, a project recorded in September 2023 and to be released by Da Vinci publishing in Summer 2024. The ensemble further received the Baroque Music Prize of the International Manhattan Music Competition, with another CD scheduled for realisation in 2025 with the Orpheus Classical label. As members of the S-EEEmerging program, Rýnský is excited to take part in residencies at the Kvarner festival in Croatia and in Pavia later in 2024.
