L’Aura Pizzicata

The ensemble “L’Aura Pizzicata” was founded in 2024 by students of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, specializing in the performance on historical plucked instruments such as theorbo, archlute, lute, baroque guitar, colascione and baroque harp.

The ensemble’s aim is to explore and rediscover the Baroque repertoire, with focus on the works of female composers, highlighting the deep connections between vocal and instrumental expressiveness that characterize this period. Their approach embraces creativity and improvisation while remaining rooted in historically informed practice.

The ensemble’s projects include Tra le speranze e il timore, with music by Antonia Bembo, Stefano Landi, Barbara Strozzi, among other composers, in a program that explores the duality, ambiguity and contradictions that we find in the big spectrum of human emotions.

The ensemble has already made its debut in public concerts in Switzerland and will perform in the coming months in France and in Germany. As members of the S-EEEmerging program, L’Aura Pizzicata will also take part in residencies at Ghislieri Musica in Pavia and at the Centre Culturel d’Ambronay in 2026.
