Voces Suaves’ coming concerts in Switzerland (June 2017)

In the first half of 2017, Voces Suaves dedicated its activity to music by Claudio Monteverdi (1567-1643), celebrating the 450th anniversary of his birth.

Their coming concerts in mid-June, entitled “T’amo, mia vita”, present intimate Madrigals by this great composer. Voces Suaves invite the public to travel with them 400 years back in time to hear Monteverdi’s expressive Madrigals, which show the whole spectrum of human emotions: from love, desire and longing to rage and despair. Monteverdi’s Madrigals depict these emotions in music and lead the way from Renaissance to early Baroque music. They poignantly show how the musical language was transformed around 1600.

The program includes a selection of the most beautiful Madrigals written by Monteverdi throughout his long creative life, such as the expressive a-cappella setting of Sfogava con le stelle, the great Madrigal cycle Sestina and the famous Lamento della ninfa.

You are warmly invited to join them in an evening charged with strong emotions and musical affects.
