Il Quadro Animato
The ensemble “Il Quadro Animato” (italian “The animated picture”) is a special mixture of different cultures – Italian, German, Hungarian –, musically embodying that typical European Spirit that developed during the age of Enlightenment and hopefully still exists to the present day.
In October 2015, Il Quadro Animato was awarded the first prize at the international chamber music competition Premio Selifa in San Ginesio,Italy.
In August 2016 The Ensemble won the first prize at the Biagio Marini Competition. In November 2016 the ensemble won the special prize at the Gebrueder –Graun- Competition Bad Liebenwerda.
In October 2016, Il Quadro Animato was selected out of 95 applicants to be one of the six groups benefitting from the eeemerging program. As of October 2017, this support has been extended for another year. Since then, the group has been performing actively throughout Europe, has benefited from residency at Göttingen International Handel Festival and Ambronay Cultural Encounter Centre (France) and performed at the eeemerging Festival during the Ambronay Festival in October 2017.
Regarding the choice of repertoire, the ensemble places special attention on the so-called “concertanti” sonatas in four or five parts (flute, violin, viola and cello & continuo or obbligato keyboard part). The style of these pieces is characterized by the fact that each of the instrumentalists is also occasionally featured as a soloist.
